The 2016 Partnership Opportunities for Women in Water Engineering and Research (POWWER) Workshop was held in Kigali, Rwanda on June 11-12, 2016. The workshop convened African women scientists and engineers from 11 countries to discuss the key water issues in their regions of Africa. During break-out sessions, the scientists and engineers identified key issues in the water sector and developed recommendations for action around 6 themes:
